LEGO-Inspired Engineering Camps for Kids K-8

  • “My son and his friends had so much fun at your summer camp that I don't think he ever realized he was learning engineering! I'm sure the next time he asks the question, "When am I ever going to need this?" while doing a math problem, I'll be the first to remind him of the principles he learned by creating cool Lego projects. Kids are motivated in different ways to learn. Teaching elementary kids how information and knowledge can be great fun and very useful will open their minds to possibilities they may never have considered. Please come! We love you!”

  • “My son who is 7, just completed your Play-Well Camp and had the time of his life! I just want to thank you for your lovely staff, incredible supplies and awesome curriculum. The class was well controlled, and the children were expected to treat each other with respect and kindness. I especially appreciated the attempts to eliminate all forms of violence in the constructing and ideas of projects. This is extremely important to many families attending. He came home each day with a huge smile on his face and yakking away about how much he learned.”

    Cindy L.

  • “My son had such a great time… he's signed up for two more camps in August and is counting down the days until he gets to go back!”

    Julie V.

  • “Our family went for our fifth year in a row. We always plan our trips around Play -Well Lego camps and Comic-con! We always hit the Lego moments. It's awesome and an amazing bundle of creative energy and extraordinary costumes!”

    Roberta M.

  • "Last week’s program was so awesome. Your instructors were so good with the kids that I assumed they must have had education backgrounds! They really explained the physics and robotics to the kids in terms they understood. The kids were totally captivating and the kids were over the moon, they had so much fun. One little boy cried when the program was over because he was so sad to leave!"

    Becki L.

  • “What made the program more than "just LEGO?" The instructors were so well schooled in engineering, vehicle anatomy (axles, bushings, all kinds of gears, pins, etc), and even a little physics. They brought battery packs, remote control devices, and tons of sophisticated Lego parts I never knew existed. And the clean-up? Amazing. All organized and enthusiastically done by the kids, themselves."

    Judy R.

  • “This is our 3rd go around and they are awesome… Way better than expensive camps - true love of job shows and shows.

    Vicki C.

  • “Your instructor was awesome. The kids loved him. Very friendly, positive, encouraged the kids. My son keeps saying how much fun he had. Now he wants to build, build, build. Build”

    Dolly D.

  • “I am simply writing to tell you how wonderful your summer camp program is. My son is attending a week long session...and is in heaven! He loves everything that is happening and we are so impressed with the curriculum and teachers.”

    Christy B.

  • “I must say that our expectations were beyond exceeded with what our son came away with. He has never learned so much, so fast, never gotten as much out of a summer camp before. Thank you so much for offering such an amazing learning opportunity.”

    Samantha A.

  • "Every day when I asked my son how camp was, his response was "Awesome, I love it!!! I can't wait to go tomorrow." You cannot know how much that means. I was in the hospital having our third son at the time, and was relying on his grandmother to get him to and fro. I was worried if he was having a good time.

My Mother in law and my son gave rave reviews. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to meet Rebecca myself, but my Mother in law was extremely impressed with her curriculum, how she interacted with the kids and her fostering of their imagination.

We hope to see Rebecca back next summer, as we will be signing up again after such an amazing experience. Thank you for partnering with King George Parks and Recreation for this engineering camp. My son loves it!!!"

Dream It. Build It. Wreck It. Repeat.

Kids are already naturally gifted creators. Then they get added inspiration from our specially trained instructors. They dive into our massive collections of LEGO® parts. And while they build elaborate objects, structures and vehicles, they explore fundamental principles of engineering and physics. They also learn to collaborate and create without fear of mistakes. The experience is joyful, the impact long-lasting.

Frequently asked questions about Play-Well Summer Camps

You got questions, we have answers! Below are the most frequently asked questions.

    • Develop and enhance students' problem solving and critical thinking skills
    • Introduce children to concepts and vocabulary of Engineering and Architecture as well as new building techniques
    • Provide an opportunity to have an awesome time with a terrific and versatile building system!

We typically work on 2 different engineering and architectural projects per day. Projects typically start with an introduction and short presentation by the instructor followed by a design/building assignment. Students have access to tens of thousands of LEGO® parts to use in creating their engineering projects.

Students are introduced to engineering terminology that they are encouraged to use throughout the class when identifying pieces, posing questions, or assisting each other. Instructors circulate and assist the children in realizing their project goals.

When the participants have satisfied basic requirements of a project, they are encouraged to further explore engineering applications of the principles and construction methods by inspecting, testing, modifying, and rebuilding. At the end of each class session, students are expected to dismantle their projects and put away their materials.

Unfortunately, the campers don't get to take any of the LEGO® materials home with them. Rather, the focus is on gaining the understanding of what makes each project work and the building techniques to bring those creations to life.

Our curriculums are ever evolving, and projects are also rotated seasonally to ensure that every experience, whether in camp or class, is a new one! While there are some fundamental projects or concepts that may be revisited in summer camps, our instructors offer advanced challenges and modifications for any model that will push even the most experienced LEGO® engineers to the next level. Our curriculum is flexible and adjusts to the interests and experience level of the students, and our instructors look forward to continually challenging the most advanced students to reach their full potential. We also encourage our students to communicate when they desire a new challenge that meets their building skill level. Our responsibility as instructors is to never leave any student bored or unchallenged!

We do ask that you sign your child in and out each day of the summer camp. To ensure the children's safety, our instructors stay in the classroom with the child until a parent/guardian is there to pick them up and sign them out. This also gives us the opportunity to get to know your family and to touch base before or after class.

We encourage parents/guardians to come 30 minutes before the end of class if you would like to see your student’s specific project. If you cannot come early, we suggest giving your child a device with which to take pictures at an appropriate time during camp. Play-Well is not responsible for any lost/broken devices.

Unfortunately, we do not sell the LEGO® parts used in our summer camps and classes. You can visit the Materials page on our website to learn more about some of the parts we use in our programs and where to find them for purchase.

We will typically take one short snack break midway through camp. We do not provide snack but encourage parents to provide a peanut-free snack for their child. For parents of children allergic to peanuts, we cannot guarantee that LEGO® pieces in our kits are completely free of peanut oils.

Depending on the weather, we may take the group outside for our brief snack break, but otherwise our focus remains on making the most of our time with the LEGO®!
